Who We Are

Editors Newfoundland and Labrador organizes professional development and networking sessions held in St. John's, NL, for people interested in editing and related occupations. More than 60 individuals and organizations receive its notifications.

COMING THIS FALL

Thursday, October 22: Inside MUN's ISER Books

In this session, the Managing Editor of ISER Books opens the doors to scholarly publishing, offering a glimpse into the life of an academic monograph from proposal to promotion and illustrating the challenges, struggles, virtues, and occasional victories of a tiny university press. Alison will also discuss some of the differences between scholarly and trade publishing and share a few of the many lessons she’s learned in her three years at the helm of ISER Books.

Tuesday, November 17: On Editing Poetry

Award-winning poet and author John Barton—who is also the editor of The Malahat Review and this fall's Writer in Residence at Memorial University—shares some of his thoughts about the art of editing poetry. Barton has published eleven collections of poetry, won three Archibald Lampman awards (among other honours) and is a former editor of Arc Poetry Magazine.

Tuesday, December 8: ENL / WANL Seasonal Celebration

Seasonal Celebration with WANL. It's a party! Some talking shop may occur. Also some fun! Editors and writers have lots in common—starting with eyes and ears for words and extending to a general willingness to lift a glass of seasonal cheer. So why not celebrate together, we thought? All ENL supporters and WANL members welcome at this bash and feel free to bring along your significant other. A few carols from francophone choir La Rose des Vents, some fun & games (and maybe prizes), chitchat and festivity all on offer.
